Effects of staying single vs dating
The person you are at 21 is far different than the woman you’ll be at 25 or even 30.
With each year you learn more about who are and what you believe.
–Comedian Bill Burr has a famous line in one of his stand-ups; “There’s a critical point when you’ve stayed single for too long, that your brain switches from ‘No, don’t say that’ to ‘Eh, fuck it. You know that life doesn’t end if this relationship ends.
Say it, see what happens.”What he was saying is that when you go a long time without being in a relationship, you can take a few more chances. So why not push the boundaries in your relationship and see what you can get away with?
But how do these two different paths of life compare when it comes to health risks and benefits?
It’s often up to the individual to maintain health on their own, but certain lifestyles and life choices — like career or marriage — can definitely have an effect on your health and longevity. Consistent research has shown that being married is actually good for your heart.
You tend to kind of not care about anyone else as much as you should.
Even if you meet a woman who you really like, even love, you may run the risk of jeopardizing your relationship when you carry over the habits you’ve been doing for the past however many years as a single guy.
If it doesn’t work out, you’ll survive, you may even flourish all over again.
Because yes, they'll def flip when they find out you're dating someone.
That girl you stumbled across on Tumblr who has the coolest taste in music on the planet? For now, things are smooth between you and the parental units... You don't have to worry about your siblings embarrassing.
The hard truth is that you need to change certain things about your behaviour when you’re in a committed relationship with someone.
In theory it shouldn’t be difficult to change for this person because you love them, or at least like them, and want to do everything you can to make it work. It’s at least something you need to be cognitive of so you don’t push away this person you care about with your “I don’t give a fuck about anything” attitude. You'll just go with your friends, because they are ~the best~. When someone special comes along, you'll know it's right. You're not wasting your time on someone who isn't worthwhile.
